Thanks Donna!

For the new people, I spent 4 years documenting this nest - the Tracys Creek, MD Osprey - my Osprey.  Although we no longer live on the water, we are in the area, so we are around all of the nests at least weekly.  We began looking last Friday, but knew it was still early for the Osprey to return (the 11th would have Osprey about, however).

I had to go drop off the taxes at the accountant yesterday, so I began my nest check after I left her.  No one was home at Rockhold Creek, but Father Osprey was in Bald Bart's Tree!  I parked in the lot by the bar and walked across the bridge.  Oh, was he hungry!  He had a fish in the tree and he was devouring it (must have just arrived home after his long flight).  I watched him pig out for a bit and when he was done he began to preen and do his Osprey routine.  He didn't sing unfortunately.

I am very sure this is a male (1st arrival is one clue) and no brown spotted necklace - chest is very white.  The very white chest and the yellow eyes are 2 indications of a mature adult.

Rich spotted the 1st Osprey around noon at Pax River and Rt 4/PA Ave, which means that he beat me (we do this with the Eagles, too)  Wink  So, as far as the Olafsen's are concerned, Spring has arrived (see the buds on Bald Bart's tree) with the return of the Osprey!

Got a little busy, but here's a good selection of images of Father Osprey:

Re Ospreys... I keep checking the Scottish webcam to see if the remarkable Lady of Lowes comes back again. They have changed their website blog style and I have yet to find the cameras... but they may post those when things get moving...
