It is with sadness that I post this.  Some of you may remember long time Watcher Kathy G.  She started watching when Mariah & Cabot-Sirocco were a pair at the Kodak Tower and through all the Mariah and Kaver years.  She & Dan were the first Watchers to meet on the pedestrian bridge during the early morning hours. She was a good friend to many of us.

This morning, Kathy lost her battle with lung cancer.   Sad

I will always remember her as a fellow Watcher and a friend.

Fly Free Kathy.  We'll miss you.

Oh, Dear  Shocked
Hers was one of the first names I remember seeing on the discussion list and board in the early days.  I bet lots of us will be sending something to GVAS in her memory...

I'm so glad you posted this, Carol.  It is so sad.  I always liked Kathy's fearless nature.  She was always willing to protect what she loved and she loved the falcons. Wherever our Mariah is, she now has Kathy as a guardian.

Remembering...

In 2006, Kathy G was the first falconwatcher I met when I came downtown to see where the Kodak Falcons lived.  She was with Kathy O sitting on the corner of Platt and State Streets starring at the top of Kodak Tower with binoculars. They were on Fledge Watch.  Kathy G loved watching the peregrine falcons, especially when they would fly around Kodak Tower.  Who would have thought that I would end up sitting in a chair on the streets of Rochester with my eyes to the skies.

Rest in peace Kathy G, and fly free on the angel wings of the peregrine falcon.

I'm so sorry that Kathy G has moved on. I have not lately been able to be active in falcon watching, so my memory is of a time when Kathy G was active, even going back, as you say back to the Cabot-Sirocco days. She was always enthusiastic and happy to reach out a hand to newcomers. Our world is the poorer for her loss, but, given her recent days, I have no doubt that she is in a better place.

Fly free and far, Kathy G.

angel  God always calls His angles home  pray

Rich and I extend our deepest sympathies to all of Kathy's friends, family, and especially to all of you watchers that knew her so well.  As Carol F. suggested, we will be sending a donation (via PayPal) to Rfalconcam in memory of Kathy.

God Bless,

Oh dear, I posted that silly video without giving previous posts a proper read. My deepest condolences to Kathy G's family and all her falcon friends - and please forgive me if my earlier post seemed out-of-place.

Kathy's enthusiasm and support for our falcons were surpassed by none. She will be missed.

I hope younger people reading this thread learn from her example. She left big shoes to fill.

I too send my sincere sympathy to her family and friends, yes, Fly Free with all of your beloved falcons who have gone before.  What a sight it must be for her.  An old Falcon Watcher myself, but only from afar.  Paula Adwell, retired to Florida, but still with all of you as you remember Kathy G.

I had a similar experience Joyce; in my first visit to Rochester way back in 2004, Kathy G was one of the first falcon watchers I met, and I continued to enjoy her enthusiasm and friendly nature on each subsequent visit.  My condolences to her friends and family and those who knew her much better...

angel  I didn't know Kathy but some of my fellow falcon watchers have spoken fondly of her. She now has a birds eye view of the falcons. RIP
