I'm sure there is not a water-tight seal between the aluminum and the concrete. When that aluminum gets hot, it will need room to expand. There has to be a big gap between the two to allow it.

Thanks for responding, Shaky. The lip looks a few inches high so I was concerned.

Your concern is a valid one nycbird.  I'm sure Shaky is correct, but I'll forward your question to Mark Nash.  It certainly doesn't hurt to ask.   wave

I wasn't being a smart "donkey" I was being serious. We need to spray the ledge and see how it drains before its time for them to nest. I garden hose would give the worst case of a lot of rain at one time. That way if it doesn't drain fast enough they could put in some drain holes.

I was worried when they started laying sheet metal on the ledge where they run back and forth thinking, no traction. Hope this all can be resolved or de-bunked!

I'm sure there is plenty of drainage that we can't see from across the street.

OK, but CPF needs to go there and push the nest more in the corner...
the workmen left too much space & the eyas could get stuck back there.
While they are there, they could test the drainage like BirdCrazy suggested.
An ounce of prevention is worth............

nyc and I are concerned about Quest. She seems very agitated at her nest. This is the 2nd time in a week that she seemed to be defending her nest. Can anyone please find out if all is OK with her? She seems to be screaming at whatever is near her nest. She made 3 visits to the nest within 10 minutes and all were not comfortable visits.

Thank you nycbird for the captures.
