For anyone checking for falcons at the old psychiatric center

In case you haven't heard/read, a violent person has escaped from the old psychiatric center. The news thinks he may have left the area but to be safe, they wanted folks in the area to be on watch. Given the violent car jacking/assault not far from this area earlier this week, I think it pays to be aware of surroundings

Good heads-up, Jeanne.
Fortunately, the guy is now back in custody. His family notified police and he was captured at Strong Memorial Hospital.

This serves to remind all of us that "our" falcon watchers are often in locations that aren't always "safe and sound". Thank you again and again to all.

That's really freaky jeanne. I remember when I was young, we had a psyche facility near us called Greystone and when word got out that one or more escaped, the police would come around with their car speakers on and let us know to be careful and lock all doors, (we never locked doors back then). It always gave the neighborhood a good scare. Then we had the "tough" guys who would go looking for the escapees.

I don't think he was in the old psychiatric center. That is no longer in use. It is my understanding that he escaped from the new center, which is just to the east of the old one.
But the warning, in case anyone is still looking for falcons there, was still very valid - glad he is back in custody, and kudos to his family members for doing the right thing.

You're right, Diana! The old building is empty!
They don't seem to do those warnings anymore! I live really close the the psych center so I am relieved that he was turned in!

Since we are supposed to be politically correct (
ahem!) describing the Elmwood Ave. property, I'll refer to the old center as the "building next to the UofR staff parking lot."
I regularly check the property on the weekends and have seen nothing as yet. If Zephyr stayed in the area, maybe he'll return again. We did see different falcons there in late winter/early spring last year. You never know, so check the roof top as you drive by.

Edit
: corrected RIT to UofR

Yep, I check that old, empty bldg to the south once a weekend if possible. Today there was no falcons over there, but there were 4 Red-tail Hawks soaring above Cobbs Hill. and lots of Geese walking around the old bldg. At least the sun was out!

Aw, I don't there is anything politically incorrect about describing a building as psychiatric. Buildings don't care what we say about them, and it was its official name. And it is a pretty strange building!
