That was cool Donna! I didn't know loons swam under water and ate fish. I don't really know too much about shore and water birds. That's the great thing about our forum...we're always learning stuff! Thanks to people like you that find information and share it with the rest of us.

Me either, thought they just dunked their head in for fish and stuff! We all learn huh?

And for all you loon fans, here is our local pair. The lake is rimmed with mountains, so the calls echo at night. It's a wonderful effect. We think the pair has two chicks this year.

Thank you Paul, they are lovely creatures! My brother camps at Fish Creek in the Adirondack mountains every summer(he just started his 2 week stint today) and they have Loons there on the lake. It's such a comforting sound to hear. I was fortunate to hear them once while visiting many moons ago.
