I watched our resident juvie Black-crowned Night Heron fish and fly up to a tree right in front of me on the Broad St bridge during my morning falcon watch today. I was delighted to have it so close and tho he didn't do much I taped it anyway. Here's the link...

Nice video!  We have a huge nesting colony of these guys on the grounds of the National Zoo (yes -- right outside the Bird House), so I'm a big fan of them.

Perhaps you don't know what an honour it is to see a juvenile Black Crowned Night Heron, Mak...  I visited two resident adults down on the Don River, where I often hike, and have been disappointed the last two times, as they seem to have migrated...  I miss their antics, their careful watching!  Thanks so much, Mak, for showing us this juvie so clearly, for making such a clear video!  I've never seen one!  He's a great watcher!  And has such wonderful feet!!
