Burger King is adding some new flavors!
Burger King in Canada is offering two new kinds of poutine (the Quebecois dish of french fries topped with gravy and cheese curds) in addition to their classic poutine...

Never eat poutine in restaurant.

Ah, Ei, someone just opened in Rochester this past spring/summer. La Petite Poutine...I think it is open at the public market downtown, and I think they have one of those trendy food truck thingies. I wanted to try it, but didn't get down to public maket on day it was open. Has anyone in these parts tried it? I am kind of intrigued. It sounds like "heart attack on a plate" -- which I can ill afford, but it still intrigues me.

Improving Poutine
Poutine is the national food of Canada, and most Canadians eat it on a daily basis. Poutine consists of french fries, topped with cheese curds and gravy. Can this food possibly be improved?
Yes:
Deep Fried Poutine.
Since just tossing a pile of fries, cheese curds and gravy into my deep fryer wouldn’t do anything besides make a huge mess my first step was to find something that could hold it all together. After looking around the grocery store for a few minutes I came upon some egg roll wrappers and realized that they would work perfectly.
Once I was back at home I got to work filling a few of the wrappers with a layer of French fries, which I then topped with white Cheddar cheese curds before drizzling gravy over everything and rolling them up. I’d never made home made egg rolls before, so I really had no idea how much I could fill them up without having them fall apart when I dropped them in the deep fryer and I think I sort of under-filled them.

There are a lot of dishes that are similar to this in Canada, so I don't think Poutine (Pronounced Poots-in in Rural Quebec) can be called Canada's National Dish.
In Newfoundland and Labrador, where I grew up, a similar dish essentially replaces the cheese with what is basically Turkey Stuffing (Bread crumbs, Butter, Salt & Pepper, Summer Savoury). It is called Fries-Dressing & Gravy. Fries, covered with Dressing (the turkey stuffing), all covered in Gravy.
It is served in nearly every restaurant in Newfoundland and Labrador, but not well known anywhere else in Canada.
I've never even seen a restaurant in Newfoundland serve Poutine, but I haven't lived there in nearly 15 years, so things may have changed.
This weekend, after the turkey is gone, they next day will be a fine meal of Fries-Dressing & Gravy. My wife makes the best dressing in the world!! MMMM-MMM!

Yes, I almost forgot...Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all our Canadian Friends....especially those at CPF and Harliequin! :-) I did spend a Columbus Day Weekend/Canadian thanksgiving weekend up in Canada about 15 years ago, and it was odd as so many places were closed. But Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canandian Friends! (Including all of the falcons from here and there!)
