Diamond shows off her two hatches (so far).  She's doing the best she can as a single mom.

From what I read, there's 3 eyases now..video shows Diamond caught something big and had a good feed for herself.

Is there anyone there that can drop prey on a ledge for her? At least until the eyases are a little older and don't need to be covered as much. I know Mark Nash and the CPF did that for Wind when Windwhistler abandoned her and his eyases. Hope they all survive and a new tiercel comes soon.

I just posted a question on the site asking if human intervention would be considered if Diamond gets no male takers.  We'll see what kind of response it gets.

Here's the latest:

STOP PRESS.  Diamond has just brought in some more prey (I think another pigeon, which is good as quite a big feed).  She had a quick feed herself and then started warming up the chicks, that are probably too cold to eat.  She is certainly trying really hard.    Hopefully the little ones will get something to eat soon as they must be very hungry (as is Diamond, no doubt).  No hope for the nestlings if Mum gets too weak to hunt, so she must eat first.

Thanks Pat. Let's see what happens. With CPFs help, Wind was able to raise her young on her own. Once the eyases thermoregulate she'll be able to leave them to hunt. I believe they used quail.

Well, here's an answer to the question I posed about human assistance for Diamond.   Sad

no patricia – any human intervention would spoil CSU research

It might be a new male, they said now he's perched in the doorway and she's allowing it.  If something has happened to Bula then a new male would at least be able to guard her and the babies.  He looks young so he can be trained!

I know. Not surprising, though, as this site is for university research.  Sad

Diamond is feeding the eyasses now. All three look lively and hungry.
