Thanks Shaky!  I'm so looking forward to seeing what Quest does this winter now that she's established a scrape.  Will "migration" be short trips east? So much we still have to learn about them!

If we didn't have the tracking data, we would all think that Quest was spending all her time at the nest box and simply not being spotted on some days.  I wonder where Beauty is on the days nobody sees her?

I always wonder where Beauty is off to when she can't be found.    Someday I hope to find her hiding spot!!

Quest's Week - Google Maps

For those of you using Firefox 8 on Windows, you may have trouble seeing some of the markers on the weekly Quest map. Older versions of Firefox and Firefox 8 on the Mac work just fine.

Ei's landmark map has the same problem with its nest box marker.

This is what happens when people start rushing out a new version every week without proper testing.

It's funny how she has visited so many locations but has never been back to Rochester.

Speaking of Rochester, I was checking out the satellite view in Google maps. It was recently updated to reflect the state of Rochester's landscape circa 2010. However, the street view is still out of date. I zoomed in on the satellite view of High Falls and suddenly found myself on Platt Street looking across an empty Kodak visitors lot at 3 smoke stacks.

Looks like Quest has been sticking close to home the past week...

The cluster toward the right is the Tam O'Shanter golf club & park.  I'm pretty sure that was one of her favorite spots when she first arrived in that area.

She was definitely hanging out in that area before she settled.  This is one of the areas that Kathy O and I checked out.  Lots of tall buildings for her to hunt from.
