Wind turbine company Nextera & MNR destroy Bald Eagle Nest & habitat

Fisherville, Haldimand Cty, Ontario:
Today, at approximately 10:30am, Florida basedwind company Nextera Energy chainsawed down the tree limb (large cottonwood) holding  a beautiful, active, bald eagle nest (species of Special Concern in Ontario).
How is this possible? Yesterday at 5:00pm the MNR gave a permit to this corporation to destroy this eagle pairs nest, and cut down the tree— as long as they were able to do it by January 6th - In typical cold government language, it is justified that the tree and nest should be removed as it was “scheduled to be removed for the construction of a road, and within 20 metres of the blade sweep of a proposed turbine“. The MNR was nto at the tree/nest removal site to see taht it was done properly. Nextera’s construction company “Whites� did the removal. I asked the police officer, who seemed to trust that these guys were ‘moving’ the nest, not just making a kindling pile, “If there are only 57 bald eagle nest in Ontario, what are the chances that ANY of these workers has ever removed an eagle nest before?�. Slim. And that is why they had to go through pans A, B, C, D etc to figure out how to lower it onto some straw bales….. they clearly didn’t have a clue what they were doing. and the MNR remained out of sight, as if they had nothing to do with it.

For a freaking road and TURBINE?? I shudder to think what the future holds for any tree nesting bird or Raptor. Humans have lost their minds!

Ive since read a release by Bird Studies Canada who was consulted. They said they advised the nest be left alone. They figure its too late this year for the birds to build a new nest. They obviously dont know where the birds will go, they  did say they arent sure they will be able to find suitable habitat in the area so may move on.(my comment What a loss to the area!! This is right in Bird Studies Canadas backyard and they  do a tracking program on Bald Eagles and work restoring them. I do understand some of their challanges, but cant believe this plan wasnt leaked publically.) In this area of southern Ontario, the Bald Eagle is still considered threatened and as such in supposed to be covered by our Species at Risk Act. How MNR could support this is beyond me, but then Im preaching to the choir here.

Almost as sad as Norfolk where they've removed the original nest and 2 more that've been started-all involving an Eagle pair that want so desperately to have a nest for their eggs.
