June 25, 2017 - Toronto - Sheraton Centre
Linda Woods Reports:
First Fledge of the 2017.
First of the two hatchlings has fledged sometime on June 23rd. Volunteers on the search and waiting for her to pop her head up. Second bird still on the ledge. Adults are high in the area and keeping on the nest territory.
Problems with our website so please forgive. Postings will be far apart and will try to post the site opens up to access. Please try our FB page, but info is limited there.
Anyone seeing a strange bird, with leg bands on the ground or a balcony, in the downtown core, pls contact our head office.
Toronto Sheraton Centre Day Three Fledge Watch. Missing bird has been located on a nearby building. "Zoe" was fed and decided to take a short flight across Richmond St and will spend the night on the north side of the Opera House. Bird # 2, took his maiden flight sometime after dinner and came to rest on the office building south of the nest site. He was fed and will spend his first sleep over out, on the same building.

So happy they found Zoe. So happy second fledged successfully. This is such a difficult area for these young fledglings and their watchers. Thank you Linda for helping to keep them safe.

They still had pantaloons on Wednesday! They de-fluffed pretty quick!
We were laughing over the weekend how Rachel started frantically de-fluffing when she saw Ontario & Charlotte having fun out flying. These guys must have done the same thing!

Toronto Sheraton Centre June 26th 2017 Fledge # 1, Zoe is out and about hopefully staying out of trouble. Fledge #2, Falcor spent the day and most of the evening on the same building as yesterday. Late this evening he took off towards the norh and came up short on his attempt brushed the building and tried to fly back to his take off point. He was short on that landing as well. Brushed the glass window and continued north, losing elevation. He came to rest on a low rise office tower directly across from the nest building. He will remain there for night.

Thankfully he didn't get hurt-the first few days after they fledge can be hair raising!

Both came to ground yesterday and were put back up after dark. I think both are down at other end now, they seem to like being home.
