After all the help and support they have given the animals over the years, an "anonymous" complaint...

A petition has been started

Thanks for sharing this Kris...

Thanks for posting this on here, Ei.  I was saddened to read about this a couple nights ago. Several other forums have posted the petition for people to sign and I'm hoping our members here will also sign it.

I can't believe that someone would file a complaint after all these years.  People are crazy...

If you do sign the petition, suggest the town provide an Official  center he could use!  just a thought......

Knowing that area, very unlikely. Marring the perfect image is most likely what's at the root in the first place.

Sure are and there aren't many people that provide this type of service either. It would be a great loss...

I think the purpose and spirit of the law is being completely missed. He doesnt have a polar bear or lion which could get loose in a residential area and attack people. He has some man eating Coopers Hawk or the like?? Get together and just make a change in a bylaw that should take 3days to do.

You have to know Oyster Bay, NY to understand the situation.   Horvaths could get the NYS DEC to say that the wildlife they rehabilitate is not dangerous, but that will probably never happen.

Exactly. It was probably the news of avian flu in China that caused someone to feel they finally had a reason to say something.

And they'll probably win because sick & injured wildlife isn't pretty.

WINORR- Wildlife In Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation
Tuesday
We received great news today ! Over the weekend Supervisor Venditto called me at home to discuss the situation and again yesterday as well and finally we were able to meet today to work out a solution. We have been granted permission to continue rehabbing wildlife with some adjustments which should benefit everyone involved. We will still be able to work from our home but will also look into alternative sites such as Tackapauasha Museum, our town animal shelter , or any other appropriate location to expand long term . Cathy and are are very happy and look forward to work with our town and all the other agencies we have served over the years. We appreciate John Venditto's acknowlegdement of the important work we do and today his actions backed up what he has said to me over the past few days. We want to thank all the people who have publicly supported us starting with Robin Lynn and the petition she started on our behalf . I've never been involved in anything like this before and watched it start out and just grow and gain speed in no time at all. Thank you . And too all the others who took the time out on our behalf to show your support with an e mail, letter , or phone call including old friends and new, attorneys, rehabbers, rescue groups, and governmental agencies I also thank you . Over the years Ive had more than my share of media coverage but this obviously was not the type of thing I would wish on anyone. We are glad its over , just want to be good neighbors and will strive to improve and continue to assist whenever and wherever we can.
