Quest Goes to School

As you can see from our latest map, Quest is still moving along the Cape. But take a closer look at the southeast corner of the map, and you’ll notice that there are three locations for her, almost stacked on top of each other. Zoom in (click the + sign on the map) and use the satellite overlay (click the Sat button), and you’ll see she’s been hanging out in the town of Chatham Port. Her location data on the 14th, 16th and 17th place her at the Chatham Middle School. In fact, it looks like she was playing a little baseball, hanging out in deep right field on the 16th! Maybe she’s sitting in on a couple of classes too, brushing up on her geography.
Of course, having been raised in a city Quest is no stranger to populated areas, and the school is probably one of the tallest structures she’s found recently. We’ve sent a message to the school to let them know about their distinguished visitor. We’ll have to see if anyone there has a Quest sighting to report. If they do, we’ll be sure to bring the news to you!

Hi-
I live about 2.5 miles from Chatham Middle School and will head out tomorrow with scope and binoculars to see if I can get any sighting. Keep in mind structures here are no more than two stories so the landscape wont look very much like Rochester. Delighted she has chosen to come here. I have watched Mariah and Kaver for several years so this is a real treat!

Thanks, Jess. That was fun! Could it be that Quest remembers her bird’s-eye-view of the baseball diamond from back home? I can’t wait to hear if there are any replies from Chatham Middle School.

Actually, maybe she was looking for school kids like those who came to banding day!
What a great thing for kids to see!

Quest was named by the students at Hilton Quest school. I wonder if they know how famous their fluffy little eyas has become.

I am impressed that we have the tool “Google maps” to play with here. You rfalconcam folks really think of everything 🙂
Inspector Gadget definitely had a hand in this 😉
Rosamund, I am sure the Hilton Quest students are following “their” falcon’s every move. Now the fame could be shared with the Chatham Middle School, if Quest takes up residence over the winter. What a great school to school project that could become!

I agree that Quest developed a keen interest in baseball in Rochester where she had the best seat in the house, well, a little out of the house, but nonetheless, great seats. And, she also has a real interest in busy places with lots of activity, so I know she is right at home with the schoold kids!

Thats great..its never too late for school. Guess with all the activity around there, she is a t home, as was the areas she flew around here, and knew of all the visitors, taking pictures and all. Glad to hear it..thanks..looking forward to more.

How great is the internet that Joanna who has been a fan of Mariah and Kaver can now go out scouting for Quest and report back to Rochester?
I still wish the transmitter could be more natural, and the antenna shorter – but I’m glad we can watch, follow and adventure with Quest.
Kudos to all who send in photos and stories. There is a certain sadness that comes to the Rochester area when the little ones fly away…but having these reports and wonderful friends on the grounds and photos makes replaces the sadness with excitement again. I know they originally said the harness will last up to 3 years…so we’ll probably be heartsick again when it finally falls off – but until then – I’m still hooked 🙂
