Eyes to the Skies

Morning watch 6-3-11

By Rochester falcon watcher MAK

I searched for Beauty for almost an hour this morning before she finally showed herself. I started getting nervous thinking she might be over at Kodak Park. It’s always in the back of my mind that she and Unity might have another battle. I tried a different vantage point parking on the Court St. bridge and that’s where I spotted the Beautyful one over on Times Square under the northeast wing.

I drove over to Aqueduct St. and got set up for a closer view of her. We kept company with each other for about an hour like this and then she snuck off while I wasn’t looking. A minute or so later I caught a glimpse of her flying into the nestbox and I could hear her vocalizing. Half hour later Archer appeared under the southeast wing.

At first he was looking down toward the nestbox I assumed at Beauty. Mostly he preened himself giving me some nice poses.

I hung out with Archer and Beauty for half hour more and then I had to leave.  🙂

As it seems that most watchers are spending their time at KP these days, reporting on the activities there, it’s wonderful to read your daily reports about our Beauty. Thanks, MAK!

  2. bev. Says:

I also am glad that you are keeping an eye on our Beauty.

I would love to give her a male ,worthy of her.

I really love the pictures today. The bright blue skies really show off the birds!

No problem at all ladies! You know I love the Beautyful one, but of course I love ALL Peregrine Falcons! Blue skies make a world of difference in more ways than one Margaret! 🙂

  5. Carol Says:

I and other Watchers have actually been checking both locations daily. All the Rochester Falcons are important to us. 🙂

I hear ya about the blue skies, MAK! I’ve never gotten used to the “twilight” skies of Rochester. Blue skies and sunlight are a blessing!
I don’t know how any of you watchers do it. I’m reading the reports from Carol, MAK, Joyce, Dana, Kathy and you are running back and forth between KP and DT with a pit stop at KO!
    How do you do it?
Seriously, set up a gas fund! All of us “couch potato viewers” can contribute! You gals (and guys) are doing all the running, plus the posting, plus the commentary, and we are doing all the viewing!
What can WE do to help?
