Better than 7 min of watching - one parent showed up with a stick and left again- eggs are all alone.   Sad

 Eagle Nest Updates
Winter Update #2 - February 3, 2010

We had a moderate snow event overnight, and this morning our viewers noticed that the first egg had been laid. Not the best weather, but these adults are diligent and know what it takes to keep the egg dry and warm.

Look for up to two additional eggs over the next several days separated by at least 24 hours.

More snow is forecasted for Friday and Saturday, which will prove to be a challenge to the eagles.

This was posted on the Blackwater site:

We hear the Norfolk Eagle Cam in VA got their 3rd egg and the NCTC Eagle Cam in WV, which received a huge amount of snow, may have lost their eggs.

Oh I hope not....poor momma.  crying

When the NCTC eagle momma got up, I saw no eggs. I think they are under the snow but yet she continues to sit and sit. The overwhelming amount of snow was just too much for her. She could possibly lay more....but WHERE??  crying Sad

The good news is we had a good melt going on yesterday.
More good news is she could lay more.
The bad news is that we are going to get ANOTHER 5 -6 inches Tuesday - Wednesday!   scared blue

Apparently she laid another egg yesterday...she's not letting this one out from under her...she's been on the egg all night.  You can just barely make out her head & beak top right.

I think that's actually what first went wrong on Saturday...Dad arrived, she stood up & the wall of snow fell in on the 1st egg.  Then she laid the 2nd egg on top of the snow...no way to stop that once it starts.

I missed seeing her move, but she cleared the snow off & turned around...brood patch still on the egg...

Not looking good for this nest this year, Momma just left and it looks like she laid the egg on top of the old snow and Ice. I feel so bad.

Well she just came back and knocked more snow on top of the egg. Oh I wish I could help her.
