Freedom Update

From our friends in Port Colborne, Ontario, we hear that another season is under way. Doug sent this note to Falconcam team member Carol Phillips.

Hi Carol,

I guess the falcon season has begun. Freedom & Millie have been witnessed doing the “boogie”, so we’re hoping for some success here this year. I’m watching your Imprints (falconcam) & Quest reports & hope everything goes OK on both fronts. It must be amazing to follow a young falcon the way you are lucky enough to. I also think you may not be so surprised as Mariah adapts to her new environment. She is a “falcon factory” & moving her box will not slow her down!

By the way, Freedom is a rocket in the sky!!!!!!!!!!Doug

Amid all the uncertainty here in Rochester it’s good to know that the lives of these falcons continue to impress and enlighten us. We’re looking forward to hearing more about Freedom and Millie in the coming months!

Thank you for the update on Freedom and Millie. I was wondering when things were going to start for our neighbors in Canada. Is there any word about Rhea Mae and Tiago? I’m also curious about Linn. Has she been seen at all?

  2. Carol P. Says:

Judy – Not sure what’s going on with Linn, but I’ve had reports from Linda W and Jan (Rhea Mae and Tiago’s Watchers up in Toronto). It seams that two Falcons, assumed to be them have been quite active around the Sheraton nestsite. 🙂 – Carol P.

Linn has been seen with a tiercel but at the time I heard last month, they had not yet ID’d the tiercel. Hopefully we’ll know soon and they were both at the Bell hack site where TC was.

Thanks for letting us know about Freedom and Millie, its good to hear they are doing the BOOGIE. I hope you right, that M will let nature take its course, and choose one of the boxes. I will be watching with anticipation.

He gets that from papa Kaver who is known for his “stealth” mode flying where he will suddenly accelerate so fast it’s impossible to track him visually so he seems to disappear. It’s just wonderful knowing Freedom and Millie are doing so well.

When I visited Rochester in the summer of 2002, Freedom and Isis were the first peregrine falcons I ever saw. It’s good to hear that the first falcon I ever saw in person is still going strong.
