The last week of March found Quest ranging up and down the Cape. She went as far north as Wellfleet and appears to have returned to her offshore hunting near Monomoy NWR. Many of the best positional readings didn’t include temperature data, but the ones that did indicate that she’s been keeping warm. That’s most likely been helped by the good weather that Cape Cod residents enjoyed recently.
I’m going to start a pool on Quest, and my bet is that she stays at Cape Cod all summer.
It is indeed a peaceful time on the Cape…Quest must
be enjoying the expansive coastline (meaning lots
of birds) and the relative safety of the trees for resting.
The perfect first Spring on the Cape for Quest!
Sounds like Quest is enjoying herself, finding food and shelter. It sgood to hear. Thanks.
I wonder why she decided to return to Cape Cod? Will she repeat this pattern next year – a winter territory on Nantucket and a summer one on the Cape?
It will be interesting to watch and wait for, that’s for sure!
Paul, Quest’s move seems to coincide with the return of the ospreys who nest on the island. She may have been using their nesting poles as perches and been chased off.
So glad to hear to Quest is doing so well – - –
