Fledge Watch Continues – Mercury is a Fantastic Flyer! – 6/27/14
By Rochester Falcon Watcher Carol P.
While Mercury was buzzing around and perfecting his high flying techniques, Nor’easter made his way back to the nest box, joining his sisters Nettie and Tesh there.
Mercury landed in many different spots, including the Cross Rds Building, the wing ring at the top of the Times Square Bldg, on top of the disk on OCSR and, yes you guessed it, the Mercury statue!
Watchers today included, Dan, MAK, Larry O, Joyce, Pat, Debbie H, Dick, Kathy O, Dana, Lou and me Carol P. Β I think that’s everyone.
The weather was warm with temps near 80 degrees (F) and bright blue skies and fluffy clouds.
Here are some pictures from today’s fledge watch. Β Enjoy! and Goodnight!

Cool that Mercury paid a visit to Mercury! According to your photos, he took some amazing flights that required skill and stamina. Wonder what the helicopter was flying so low for? Falcon Watching from the sky? ;^) Looked like a perfect day to be on fledge watch. Thanks for your report, Carol.

Carol, Could there be a better year? It has been quite a while since there has been one this exciting. Super pics, great reports, and such dedicated watchers. My thanks to all of you! As if this were not enough….Miss P…or should I say Mrs. P in Syracuse with a sweet one of her own. It is the whipped cream and cherry on top of the sundae.

You are absolutely correct Kathy! We were all thrilled to hear the terrific news that Pigott has been found safe and sound and with a mate and young one of her own! Woohoo! π

With all the terrible news that abounds about the conservation problems besetting the world, it’s nice to have this great success story “the Rochester Falcons”, to follow. Thanks to you and the other watchers we have a daily (in season) report of just how successful we can be ..

Hi from Idaho! Just want to let you know that I enjoy reading this blog very much! I have been checking it out for the past two or three years, and never cease to be amazed at the dedication you all show. Hail, rain, sleet or snow….it seems that someone is always out there watching and reporting on the PEFA activity. How blessed they are to have such devoted fans! I’ll bet they know how much of a blessing they are to you as well!

What wonderful news! The boys are doing well and Pigott has shown up after 3 months of nail biting. Waiting with baited breath for the girls to fledge.

Beth – We were ALL thrilled to hear that Pigott was in Syracuse and with a baby girl and mate of her own! She is well loved by her Rochester Watchers. π
