Some Pictures of the Four Rochester Falcons From this Past Week – 5/25 to 5/31/12

From Rochester Falcon Watcher Carol P.

Took a break today from checking on the Rochester Falcons. It rained on and off all day and was cool & cloudy. This gave me a chance to actually go through my pictures from this past week. I have many more pictures to go through, but this is a start. This album includes pictures of Beauty, Dot.ca, Pigott and KPT (KP Tiercel).

Just click on the link to my KGallery Album. No sign on needed.

Enjoy!

Carol, you surely know falcon behavior! I wondered why you kept consistently checking the KP location. I was thinking that the KPT was just passing through town. Your instincts were correct because there he is. Your persistence paid off! What is the main attraction to KP for the Peregrines? Height and “cubbyholes”, lots of pigeons, etc? Thanks for sharing photos of all four!

I can be very persistent Barb. 🙂 I was mostly checking daily for sightings of Archer. Didn’t and don’t want to give up on looking for the little guy. KP made sense for an Archer sighting. This area is part of his territory and he knows it well. I think the attraction is the very tall stacks with catwalks to hunt from. Lots of buildings with nooks and crannies and oodles of prey. This is an awesome hunting area for a Peregrine, Kestrel, Merlin, and all kinds of Hawks. Of course, in my eye, the Peregrine is King and Queen! We saw a falcon there again today on the railing near the red door on the east stack. Dana and Kathy O were there today with me. There is no way to know if this is the sub-adult or another. Too far even for a scope. Thank you!

Wow…another falcon sighting today at KP! It does indeed sound like a great venue for Peregrines. What a celebration there’d be with a sighting of Archer! Your efforts, and those of the other watchers, are truly commendable. I’m looking forward to your next report. Oh, and on another note, I’m pleased that you liked my watercolor of Beauty.
