Monday Morning Falcon Watch (6:15 – 10:00 am) – 7/13/20
By Rochester Falcon Watcher Carol P.
Morning Watchers: Dana, Kathy O, Larry O & Carol P.
Weather: So much cooler and less humid, with threatening clouds for most of the morning watch. Temps in the 60’s.
What a fun watch this morning! The first falcon I spotted was a juvie on Widows Walk. By the time I drove closer, the juvie was gone. I met Dana on Court St. She verified that it was a juvie and that it had flown towards downtown.
From Woodbury Blvd, we could see two juvies talon tagging over B&L. One larger than the other.
From behind Midtown, I had two on the 5 Star bldg. I saw a 3rd falcon to the east and the 2 juvies took off, giving chase. After a few minutes, 2 juvies returned to the NW corner of 5 Star. We do believe that it was Geraki and Hope.
During the morning watch, we had lots of flying and a couple of food transfers. At one point, there were two falcons sitting side-by-side on the 5 Star railing. The smaller one had a dark head, so we’re pretty sure it was Roc.
We spent most of our watch behind Midtown, where lots of folks approached us to ask about the falcons. Lots of fun!
When we left, there was a big fire on W. Main St (west of downtown). Lots of fire trucks and thick black smoke. Hopefully no one was hurt.
Here are some pictures from the morning watch. Enjoy!

I am glad you think that Roc is back with the family. Wish he would do us all the favor and line up again with his sisters on the Widow’s Walk;-)

I do too, Alison! That would be very nice of them. 🙂
