Fab photos, Jim!   That's about four mile from where my son lives . . fortunately upwind.   He signed up to take a CPR class last year but it was canceled d/t some emergency you folks had to attend so I know how busy Perinton must be.

So true!   I have five MP's (medical purrers) who never left my side while I recovered from my heart attack.
7  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcons News / Re: Jemison Has Broken Shoulder, Says Vet on: 07-Jul-10, 02:46:27 PM
I'm pretty sure rehab time will depend on the kind of fracture Jem has.  There are so many ways a bone can break.  The falcon in the article had "lots of energy" and yellow feet at an early age indicating an excellent diet.  . . same as Jem!

Awww, poor little guy.  Not the news I'd hoped for but considering how Jem was tearing up the skies, it could have been way worse.  Carol, can you let us know what kind of break it was when you find out?

Here's another Juvie's experience with Jem's injury for anyone interested in what may be in store for Jem. . . .  http://www.wildcarebayarea.org/site/PageServer?pagename=AnimalAid_PatientUpdates#peregrine  Click on "peregrine falcon".

Get well quickly, Jem!
9  Rochester Falcons / Falcon Watches / Re: Fledge Watch - Jemison Goes Down a 2nd Time (4-7pm) on: 06-Jul-10, 01:59:41 PM
Thanks for the update, Carol.    I'm assuming Jem will need to be anesthetized for the X-ray.  If so, glad they're waiting till they have the time to give him all the attention he needs.

Your garden must be a vision, Janet.

We have one species, the Ruby Throated hummingbird, here in the North. If you have the kind of feeders that have little bars they can sit on, they will sit still while sipping giving you a better photo op or just a better view of them. On these hot days I set up a mister over the potted plants on the deck. The hummingbirds love to fly through the cool mist.

Good idea about WW.  Sending positive energy J's way.

I must say, I kept hearing "Born to be Wild" in the background whenever I read J's reports. Obviously wasn't paying attention during the safety lecture at flight school.  Hope he's back menacing his sister soon!

Jim, Great work.  Sounds like he barely made it across the river!   Perhaps Beauty will rein him in a bit now.  This experience must have been an eyas opener for her.  javascript:void(0);

Did the vet rehydrate Jem?

They stood about 3 feet tall and had a HUGE wing span and their heads went back and forth like a cobra.

Oh, funny!!  Probably saw a GBH and thought it was a falcon.   Why don't you invite him as a guest lecturer at the next Audubon meeting . . on April 1st.   educated
