1  Member Activities / Vacations and Holidays / Re: A Very Happy Holiday Season 2023 on: 18-Dec-23, 09:22:45 AM
My favorite of the holiday greetings I've done over the years is this one, with Mariah sitting on top of the nest box above a verse quoted from a Christmas hymn, People Look East. It's still my favorite.

Birds, though you long have ceased to build,
Guard the nest that must be filled.
Even the hour when wings are frozen
God for fledging time has chosen.
People, look east and sing today:
Love, the bird, is on the way.

Hi, Dale.
I'd forgotten how beautiful your artwork is.
Thanks for reminding us!

Just saw the switch with DC out and B back in, did I just see a second pipped egg?  Was kind of fast so can't be sure.

I saw a slight discoloration on a second egg, but wasn't sure it looked like a hole.
Love how she closely checks each egg after DC gets up! heart

4  Rochester Falcons / Rochester Falcon Discussion / Re: Young falcons in the 19th ward on: 18-Jul-15, 05:35:21 PM
Had a VERY good look.  These are not peregrins, but rather merlins....This makes alot more sense, as there are no tall buildings nearby, but lots of tall pine trees, which merlins like.

Merlins were very common when I lived in the 19th Ward (which runs along the west bank of the river from downtown to Genesee Valley Park, and extends quite far west from the river). There is a whole colony in GVP---made quite a racket when I was hiking there earlier this spring---and there used to be another colony in Mt. Hope Cemetery. when their paths crossed, the territorial displays were impressive!

I cannot scroll...

Shaky's suggestion should work for making multiple windows visible. For the scrolling thing:

System Preferences > General > Show scrollbars: Always

Good luck!
7  Member Activities / Events / Re: End of Season Falcon Watcher Get Together on: 09-Sep-14, 10:20:46 PM
I was talking with Carol and Dana about a get together.

It seemed like Saturday, the 13 around 4:00 pm at the Genesee Brewery sounded good.

Damn! We're going to be out of town again. Seems like I've missed every gathering in the last two years.
Sad

9  Member Activities / Birthdays / Yarak's birthday is July 30 on: 26-Jul-14, 11:41:40 AM
For those of us who aren't fond of web forums, Yarak has kept connected to Rochester's falcon (and falcon watcher) family by email.

Are there any plans for a birthday celebration?

10  Other Nature Related Information / General Nature Discussion / Re: Island Girl on: 26-Jul-14, 11:04:12 AM
News about her. She is now in her territory at the nord of Canada(From Chile to Baffin) after a big trip of more than 14, 300 km(8 910 m) in 6 weeks. What a great traveller!!!

For those who, like me, weren't familiar with Island Girl, here is her tracking page at the Southern Cross Peregrine Project site:

The other tracked birds are impressive, too!

Hope I can be there -- will be my first Watcher gathering this year  Sad -- but my husband is recovering from surgery, so I'm not sure I can make it.
12  Rochester Falcons / Satellite Tracking / Re: Quest in same spot for 5 days on: 12-Apr-11, 03:32:25 PM
Anyone up for a trip to Toronto to find Quest?  How exciting!  My gps "Stella" doesn't find places by longitude /latitude, but maybe I can download an app for my phone?

wave Depending on the date, sure! I'm busy this weekend, but could go this Friday, or Monday or Tuesday next week.

Scratch crossed the Rainbow Bidge today to loin her sister Peck.
She died peacefully sleeping in Craig's arms, one of her many favorite places to be.
RIP little one

So sorry to hear about Scratch. It's never easy to lose a pet, whatever the species. Feathers or fur or scales, they worm their way into our hearts. Sad
14  Anything Else / Totally OT / Re: Fred Vickers -- the oldest member of k/rfalconcam... on: 21-Dec-09, 04:20:33 PM
It's with sadness that I let our friends, here on rfalconcam, know, that my treasured father, Fred Vickers, died at 5pm today.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I don't get to the forum very often, so I didn't see your message until today. I used to enjoy Fred's occasional comments on the kfalconcam discussion list, and used him as an inspiring example when elderly friends said they were too old to use the computer to pursue their interests.
