Beauty and another in arial battle today 1/12/10

Around 3 PM the sky was filled with kaking as 2 falcons fought near the nest box on the Times Square Building.  Alot of dive bombing and yelling.  The more aggressive of the two was obvious (hoping the other wasn't Mariah).  The aggressor declared victory within 5 minutes, and took perch on top of the torch in Mercury's hand where she (I believe it was Beauty) stayed for a few minutes more before touring the territorial terrain.  Any other locals catch it?

Oh boy, here we go. I don't like this fighting. Hope the other is OK and just has wounded pride.

Mariah was last seen quite a distance away from downtown near the mall in Irondequoit.  This was Beauty and someone else.

Beauty perching on Mercury's torch is becoming a more common site.  Must be perch central.  I like to tell the people in the office that Mercury is "flipping" them the bird 

I didn't see any further activity after that fight.  Whoever dared come too close to the nest box was quickly, and loudly escorted and divebombed out of the area.

While I hate to hear about any fights and I hope the intruder is OK, I am VERY encouraged that Beauty is defending the nest box.  I so want to hear the pitter-patter of BYF this year!

Who knows, this could be a bird from the brighton psych center.  Beauty had been there and came downtown.

PF on St. Joseph's Garage, Clinton Ave. Rochester

This afternoon (2:35 p.m.)I parked at the outdoor garage at Mortimer and N.
Clinton, across the street from the 5-6 story St. Joseph's Garage. Getting out
of my car (and unfortunately with no binoculars in the car) I saw a PF sitting
on the top rail of the St. Joseph's garage, facing north (i.e. away from me). I
called Carol P - which, of course, ensured that just as I reported the sighting
to her, the PF took off, flying north. Seconds later it (I assume it was the
same one but did lose sight for a few seconds) headed south on Clinton flying
straight and flat at about the third floor level. I thought from my initial
sighting that it's back had the slate grey coloring of an adult, but on the
fly-by the under-coloring appeared more brown, like a one-year juvie, so I'm
not sure which it was.

Perhaps someone is moving a few blocks east after the tussle with Beauty.
