Looking east from Fitzhugh Street toward the Powers Building (c.1911). [PHOTO: Albert R. Stone]

Cluster lights: Those were "clustered Mazda" streetlamps; a new GE product. According to a Rochester Herald newspaper article, the light given off was very soft and warm, but too soft to be useful.

What a cool photograph!  The Powers Building hasn't changed.  It's still as beautiful as ever.

For non-Rochesterians, which one is the Powers building?

It's on the left in this photo.  It's located on the northwest corner of Main and State Streets, and you can see it on the rfalconcam stream from Cam 4.  It's the building with the flagpole on top.

The Powers Building is also the location of the other downtown nestbox and webcam (cam 5).  It's not used because it's too close to the Times Square Building.

I know the Powers building today having seen it in person many times but in the pic it's the big building in the left foreground then? I guess I don't recognize it without the round top and the flag.

Yep, it's the one in the foreground.  The building in the background with the sort of spire on it is gone now, replaced by the Crossroads Building.
