These posts get tweeted to watchers on the street. Please use a more descriptive title  ("Beauty in snow!" sounds scary when you don't know that she's in the nest box), and don't attach pictures (watchers can't see them). There's another board on the Forum for pictures.

Well, the tweet went out. Can't undo it. My reply was for future reference only.

I don't often come over here to the forum as quite honestly I prefer Facebook. But yesterday after taking this screenshot and then checking the archive viewer I realized it had not been captured by the main cam I thought it would be nice to post it here. If in my enthusiasm I posted it in the wrong place then so be it but I find your rudeness highly unnecessary. It certainly causes one to question whether to post on here again or not.

Your picture was beautiful but it should have been posted in 2014 Pictures from Rfalconcam. The way you posted it made it sound as if Beauty was down in the snow and in need of rescue. The watchers are so busy that the last thing they need is a frightening false alarm. Please, instead of being angry and upset, try to understand the reason for the reprimand. It wasn't rudeness to correct you. You simply had to be told that such a post in the wrong place might have sent the watchers running from all over to pick Beauty up off the ground.

Thank you, Dot. The first thing I thought of when I read the title "Beauty in snow !" was a downed falcon.

BH, I was not being rude. I politely reminded you and everyone else reading the Rfalconcam Now board not to post topics here with non-descriptive, alarmist titles and/or pictures. This is explained in this board's first topic "PLEASE DON'T CONFUSE THE WATCHERS." (Yes, this is the exact title of the topic. It's in all caps in order to catch everyone's attention so they will hopefully be considerate enough to our dedicated watchers to read it before posting.)

I apologize if my reply seemed a bit on the terse side, but surely you can understand why. I had already taken the time to post a complete explanation. I simply didn't have the time to repeat it in its entirety again, and, quite frankly, I shouldn't have had to.

You see, much of my time is spent monitoring and moderating Rfalconcam's forum and its social media sites; maintaining and updating the website; fending off spamming and hacking attempts; maintaining, repairing, and upgrading the cameras and computers at Times Square; relaying information to GVAS and DEC and complying with their various rules and regulations; answering technical questions from the falcon community; helping to raise funds to keep Rfalconcam running; and finding ways to save money whenever possible while still providing an informative, educational, and enriching experience for followers of the Rochester falcons.

The above is done on a 100% voluntary basis during whatever time I can find between working a full-time job and maintaining a household and personal life. So forgive me if I don't consult Judith Martin before posting a reminder for what must be the umpteenth time.

Let's try to remember why we're here -- to support the falcons! We must not let bruised egos get in the way of that.
