There is concern for native breeding puffins, peregrine falcons and guillemots, even though the filming schedule was approved by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

I agree that Sept. would have been a better time for filming-but it's JJ Abrams- I imagine he gets whatever he wants....hope none of the birds are affected! Interesting, thanks for sharing, Pat! good post

Totally ticked off at this! Completely behind BirdWatch Ireland and their objections. I have not been to this amazing place, but I have been on other western islands to ring/band Stormies, Puffins etc. One step either way, and the nest collapses. (Apropos... Must get someone to tell people... including the BBC... that it is HAN Solo... but that's another argument...)

They may have named HAN Solo's ship the Millennium FALCON, but that's where their respect for falcons (and many other bird species) ends, apparently.
