Bald Eagle Hacking Program Presentation by Mike Allen (retired NYSDEC)
Dec. 13, Saturday, 10:00-11:00 am Montezuma Audubon Center, 2295 State Route 89, Savannah, NY 13146
Senior Wildlife Technician, Mike "EagleMan" Allen will present a PowerPoint program concerning the restoration of the Bald Eagle in New York since its fledgling stages in the mid-1970s. Mike retired from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in October 2009 where he had worked since the late summer of 1975. He became involved with New York State's pioneering Bald Eagle restoration program in September of that year, had responsibility for monitoring eagles throughout Region 8 and the surrounding areas. When New York's program began, only one active Bald Eagle nest was known to exist in all of the Empire State. By the spring of 2014, more than 300 Eagle nesting territories are known to exist within New York's borders. Fee: $4.00/ child, $6.00/ adult, $20/ family, FREE for Friends of the Montezuma Wetlands Complex. Call 315-365-3588 to register.
