Well said, MAK.  The transit center is nice, and well designed, but I don't recall that any politicians from the city or county actually bothered to ask us Rochester bus patrons if we wanted it.  All things considered, I think the majority of us would have said no.  They have also eliminated practically all crosstown routes throughout the city and county, making people instead stop at the transit center and transfer to another bus, thereby forcing them to purchase all day passes, which increases their fare by $1.00 per day. Many people who ride the bus to work or school every day cannot afford an extra $20+ per month for transportation.  RTS is paying for the transit center on the backs of the people who can least afford it.

Just like the federal government giving tax breaks to the rich and leaving the rest of us poor slobs to pay the lion's share. They just don't care about us unless they're running for office and want our vote. We could go on and on but it won't change anything-unfortunately we're at their mercy. Now I am done... Roll Eyes

The reason given to my co-worker when he asked one of the employees there was that Tim Horton's is closing all of their cafes in Rochester that don't have drive-through windows.

Lots of folks don't have cars downtown.  Many take buses into work and leave their cars at home.  Most business for them would be walk ins.
