It's a hormone thing - his are in a different place than hers.  It's sad for dad but perhaps a challenger might snap him out of it.

That reminds me, gone are her pale blue feet and her blue tape.  Our little girl has grown up.

Eh, she's young and she's a bit whiney, he does cater to her needs, every time she screams, he's out and I have seen them mate and he brings her food. It may be good she doesn't lay eggs this year, give them time to bond and realize these eggs probably won't hatch! Let them soar around Elizabeth and see the sights together!!! heart

If he's getting food for her it's from his stash as he's never gone long enough to hunt..and that stash can't last forever.

She just scared him off the eggs again and she's scraping in the igloo and looking at the eggs.

5.39 am and Cadence has been standing quietly outside the igloo for the past 15 minutes I've been up.  Dad sleeps on inside.

5.48 am and a little vocalizing by Cadence and dad lifts his head a few seconds and back down again...

5.52 am and Cadence finally moves in and wakes up dad and he's up and out the door he goes.  She's standing inside now.

5.56 am and she's outside and off she goes.  heart

1.58 pm - Dad's been off the eggs a few times today, more than past days.  His food cache must have run dry and he needs to hunt.

10:45 am - When Dad returned to nest this morning, there was evidence that he had a bite to eat - blood on beak and right leg.

12:48 pm - Cadence perched on top of igloo. Dad inside on eggs vocalizing - looks like he is e-chupping to her.

1:45 pm - Cadence at nest, both bow to each other and e-chup. Dad leaves and Cadence looks over the eggs. Twice she rolled one egg under her and crouched, but did not lay on the eggs. I think her instinct says what to do, but she can't figure it out being a young bird.
