Very sad news from the AT&T peregrine nest in Detroit.
From the Southeast Michigan group:
Chris Becher reported that the 17 year old male at this site, Bud-z (black/green S/B) was found injured and died yesterday on the way to the vet hospital. He was banded at the Commodore Perry Motor Inn in Toledo, Ohio in 2000 and had been nesting at the AT&T building in Detroit since 2009.Beautiful photo of Bud-z by Barb Baldinger.
He was a very handsome tiercel, and he looked very familiar, with his solid dark hood and faintly gray cheeks.
Bud-z was the son of Fury, banded *G/A, born at the Fort Wayne nest, and *7/X, born at the Dayton, Ohio nest.
Fury's parents were the legendary Freedom and Roosevelt, who owned the Fort Wayne nest for many years. Roosevelt also had the full dark hood.
Roosevelt's father was the great Bandit of the Rhodes Tower in Columbus, Ohio, and his mother was Aurora from Ontario, Canada. Bandit, too, had the full dark hood with faintly gray cheeks.
Bandit, great-grandfather of Bud-z.
