The Dayton Ohio falcons laid 4 eggs and on April 5th they removed one egg, and the following day, April 6th they removed a second egg. By the looks of it, they were defective and the female was able pick the egg up where there was likely a crack.

Wow...what great stills..but very sad for them. Thanks Joyce. I saw where one of them actually ate the yolk on the ledge. Why is that stuff lethal for falcons as Carol mentioned this am if it gets on their feathers? Is it like glue???

Who ever posted the pics asked if the stones were too big in the nest and maybe they should have been a peastone. Does size make a difference here...as far a gravel in a nest?

It looks like an egg is not where it's suppose to be....under the mom. Is that an egg?

Yep. Ever try cleaning dried egg yolk off a counter top? Just think about that getting into feathers...

Exactly Jim. I was a cleaner for Greece Central school district and let me tell ya I clean\ed my share of raw eggs off of things. It dries as hard as cement and it smells horrendous! Most of the time I had to use a razor blade scraper to get it off. I shutter to think how it would effect a bird if it got on their wings!

OK, so it's not lethal when ingested then. Yeah I kinda figured the hardening of the feathers if it got on them. YOLK is bad if not cleaned up right away....(especially on cars)...Thanks. Why use crazy glue when ya got yolk!
