We've had some white-crowned sparrows in our backyard this weekend. Handsome little birds with the sweetest song...  They must be passing through as I rarely see them here in central Illinois.

I have 2 pairs of these birds in my backyard. They come every spring and fall and stay a few weeks and then move on.

I have a small flock that winters in my yard. I love to hear them sing. The first year it was just a couple birds and every year since its gotten just a little bigger. I'd say we have about 20 They are so cool.

I've been looking for them because we get a few this time of year that are passing through.  They don't stay long though.

They nest in Canada, way up north some in Alaska too.
