Rochester Falcon Watcher:- Carol P.
I joined Carla P and MAK at Falcon Watch Central at 4 pm.- All was just about where I had left it at 6:40 am.- I did a quick Watch this a.m. and found Callidora in the same spot on the south side of the Time Square Bldg (TSB). The highlight...

Great news, and good write up. I do hope Carol will expound on the massive Peregrines visiting that passerby

I second this on both counts.
Sounds to me like the massive Peregrine Falcons some people have inside their heads, telling them what to do? This person's got 'em on his balcony instead. Certainly more hygienic to keep them out there. Thanks, Carol!!!

PART 1 of the Story...
MAK and I were on watch 2 days ago, when this fella came by and asked
whatchalookinat
? We pointed upward at one of the adults flying, and said "peregrine falcon". He proceeded to expound on his knowledgeable understanding of the species. His first comment was that the falcon we were looking at was a 2 to 3 year-old, because it was small in size. Then he advised that full adults are "massive" and have a 6-foot wingspan, and stand this high (placed his hand about 30" from the ground). Then he proceeded to tell us about all the pigeon heads that the falcons left on his balcony. You could tell there would be no changing this man's opinion. MAK and I cracked up, as he walked away. When other watchers showed up, we shared our "falcon lesson of the day"
Yesterday I wasn't on watch, but the 'educator' came by again...so Carol will have to continue PART 2.

LOL, sounds more like an eagle...ya just have to let those people ramble on and nod your head. Lots of people think Hawks are falcons too and when it's really is a Falcon, it's a hawk to them

That's good Janet.
Now for part 2.
Said person returned today. I hadn't seen him the first time, but I had heard his story. This time it gets even better. Kind of like the fish that got way.
As he was coming up the stairs, he was telling us that the Falcons visit him on his balcony all the time. Kathy O made the mistake of asking him where he saw them. He told us that the falcons we were watching were young ones and that the original falcons from the Kodak Tower were massive. They stood about 3 feet tall and had a HUGE wing span and their heads went back and forth like a cobra.
I guess Mariah and Kaver have now hit legendary status.

Oh, funny!! Probably saw a GBH and thought it was a falcon. Why don't you invite him as a guest lecturer at the next Audubon meeting . . on April 1st.
