Funny thing re this one... here was I, saying to myself that the bill is not decurved, so Curlew is obviously wrong. Well! Haha on me again! AND... don't I hit another site and there is that very photo! ID'd as Curlew chicks - so of course I could not play. (At least that's my story...)

Yes I understand, it's funny that the babies have such a short bill, but it's longer than most water/shorebirds so it has to be a avocet or a curlew. And I was sure it was no Avocet.

That's very fair of you Bobby not to sent the name after you saw the picture!

It looks like a Mourning Dove shape to me.  Big body, little head.  The only thing missing is the long tail.  Hmmmmm.
