African Orange weaver finch.....sometimes called the Red Bishop and sometimes called the Orange Bishop.  It is a finch and I had one who honored my aviary from Feb 4th 1987 until Jan 18, 2010.  He was unbelieveable.... would change from his breeding orange & black to a drab brown and compared to a tiny sparrow in off season.  He lived 4 times the average age of his breed in captivity.  After 23 years, I miss him very much.

PS...their wings never change color.... only the velvety black and the bright orange/reddish areas.  The more ''color food'' they are fed,... the more red they become.

YES NYC, it is most definitely an Orange Bishop Weaver...and they are from mainly Africa but this one was spotted in Illinois. How he got there, no one knows. He may have been a pet that escaped. They are worried about him because of the territory and what may happen to him. Gorgeous bird indeed.

That is one beautiful bird!
Nycbird:  How fortunate you were to have him all of that time.
Thank you for sharing your photo.

There is not much bird showing but,..... I think it is a brown creeper.

You are correct NYC. They call it a Sneaky Tree creeper but real name is Brown Creeper. You know your birds. Smiley
