That plastic bottle caps can not be recycled? They are not made out of the same plastic as the bottles. Sooo throwing them in the trash is not an option either, you can see what it does to the wildlife. I save all mine and when I get a full bag, I bring them to the kids school. Someone there has a purpose for them. I'm not sure what but at least they are not in the garbage.
Well, there are a few things you can do. One is you can look at a website called earth911.org and see if maybe you're just lucky enough to be near a place that does collect them. You don't want to go really far outside of your usual commute to drop them off, because then you are dealing with pollution from the car and all of that. But it's possible you can find something that's on your way, somewhere and drop them off. And the other thing is, schools and charities sometimes do collection drives...

I knew about the caps cuz the city of Rochester tells you not to put them in the recycle bin. They should also tell you what you can do with them!

That wouldn't be very polite.

Gee, I didn't know about the plastic bottle caps not being recyclable...
BIG Oooops!
Thank you for the information! Better late than never...I suppose... I guess I'll phone around and see what Torontonians are supposed to do with them -- and hope they are polite!
Thanks again!

Wow, I didn't know that either. I wonder what they can do with them.
Should be something.

Check the website in the post from me this am...earth911.org and type in your zip...it will say if you have a place near by that takes them. I was shocked too until recently. Now I save them, you saw where they ended up, in the bellies of baby albatrosses. So sad.
