Phoebe has laid 2 more eggs-one on the 21st and the other on the 24th! Hatching expected in 17 days!
Sheesh, she's a Hum-dinger that one! Just fledged 2 and laid 2 more. Did the others leave? I must read up on Hummers, they just keep going and going. Of course the male does NADA!!!
They say she lays 4-5 clutches a year!!
MY WORD!!!!

Phoebe's new chicks have been named Kouki and Haruka to express hope and
support for Japan's recovery.

I thought it was nice too. Many thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in the disastrous earthquake and tsunami. Devastating.

Sadly, Phoebe has been missing since yesterday, leaving 2 babies in the nest.
The nest and chicks have now been removed and transferred to a rehab facility. Another female has been seen around the area so there is speculation there was a territorial fight! Here's a video of the babies being fed by the rehabber.

Oh how sad, poor Phoebe. This is the first I ever heard of a Hummer battle and one lost! I know they can be pretty aggressive but sheesh! Going to be weird not hearing about her anymore. Flutter Free Phoebe!

Phoebe's "kids", Ana and Pavan, are being hand-raised by a rehabber since Phoebe's disappearance and have finally fledged! They're being introduced to the outside now each day and will eventually be released.
