This is all I could find.

Jeanne Yamonaco says they young men ought to recognized formally -- by government or some agency. She's not alone. There are a lot of people wanting the boys to be rewarded and the accolades are flying on Facebook.

"Saying you're a hero Chris. Mad love bro," Chris Patino said as he read his Facebook wall.

Today Facebook friends and total strangers are writing "amazing person," "my hero, very brave," and "I've never been more proud to call someone my friend in my life."

"For them the reward is probably that this girl is alive," Yamonaco said. "But some recognition by the community to say thank you for doing the right thing and doing above and beyond the right thing."

One man contacted News 10NBC wanting to make an anonymous donation of $100 to Chris and Mustafa. We put them in contact with each other.

Nicole Bean -- the young girl who was attacked -- is still at Strong Hospital. Her family has asked that all her information be kept private.

This is what happens when you email a reporter about two brave kids and say that something should be done to honor them:)

I can't get over these kids.  Thank goodness for them.  That girl would be dead if it weren't for them

They truly were heroes and no doubt saved her life during this vicious attack.

Good for you, Jeanne!  clap Far too many of us never hesitate to complain, and also never bother to jump in and issue praise.  2thumbsup Thanks for standing up to do so, Jeanne.  It is also a refreshing change of pace to see youth doing the right thing and being recognized for it.  Sounds like an ad for the Foundation for a Better Life (check it out, btw).

There seems to be an increase in acts of heroism in the face of danger lately -- apprehending the shooter in Tucson, the Wegmans stabbing, and a report this morning of 3 young men pulling a woman out of her car stuck on railroad tracks just seconds before it was struck by a train.

A follow-up to the story posted today on WHAM news:

1/31/11 12:45 PM

Rochester, N.Y.- Two local teenagers who helped save a teen being attacked at the Calkins Road Wegmans last week will be honored Tuesday night at the Monroe County Legislature meeting.

Mustafa Said and Christopher Patino will receive certificates of proclamation as well as an American flag for their actions on January 25.

Kevin Minemier, 18, is accused of stabbing Nicole Bean several times inside the store. He is charged with attempted murder and assault.

Said and Patino were shopping in the store at the time. Police say when the teens heard the victim’s screams, they fought with Minemier and took the knife from him.
