Chris writes: April 26 – [9:30 PM] Owlet no. 4 has returned home, replete with a pair of working eyes, thanks to rehabber friend Sallie. Both Mr. and Mme. Owl have delivered food since no. 4’s return, but I don’t think either one has noticed that they now have five owlets (or that Sallie and I left a dead mouse in the nest to help them feed the family). Unless screech owls employ a "1, 2, 3, many" counting system, Mme. Owl should notice the extra owlet before too long (actually, I’m surprised she hasn’t noticed already). I wonder what she’ll think.

one is little; last night I kept seeing the ones near the cam, who look huge and hulking, eclipse one or two. But then they move. There sure are 5 shmoos in there.

For some reason today they're reminding me of those nesting dolls-matryoshka I think?

I think you're seeing the "shoulder" of the right rear screechlet...sometimes all you see is one...sometimes there's more than there are!   silly
