Male cardinal throws a fit

This male spent the entire morning chasing other male intruders all around the yard, intent on driving them off his “patch.” He would not just fly toward them to drive them off, but would pursue them, flying just a few feet behind, until they had flown off into neighboring yards.

wave I think the sweetest sight in the world is when a male Cardinal places food in the females beak.  heart I have witnessed many a territorial chase by the males. They are non-stop motion! Thanks for sharing Donna!  2thumbsup

One of the spring rituals when I lived out in Hamlin was to fill the coffee butler and travel mugs stop at K&K(convenience store/gas station)for a box of donuts and head on out. The cornfields out in that vicinity would be filled with thousands of migrating Canadian Geese. The sound was deafening with their honking. The dogs would go crazy(they went everywhere with me) over the sight of them. Windows only opened slightly cuz my little cocker spaniel Kasey would have jumped out the window after them! There was plenty of nature out in Hamlin, I miss it.   gum
