Story
by Thomas W. Gorman
The Barred Owl, sometimes called the Swamp Owl, or Hoot Owl, is one of the most difficult species to be able to photograph clearly. Inevitably if you do find a perched Barred Owl, it will be far off the trail and there will be no noticeably visible path to see the owl in its entirety. Common birding etiquette is to not move closer for a clearer photo because the bird will become stressed, so you accept the photos that you get and hope for a better opportunity in the future.

This bird was fine with our prescense. The only time it goes on alert is when there was several American Crows flying by in the distance calling(off camera unheard)
