It's hard to say if she's given up on the King St. site or just exploring. A Peregrine Falcon was first spotted at Downsview this winter on December 13. If that was indeed the first sighting of Ivy (and I have no reason to believe it's not because we rarely see Peregrines at Downsview...it was my first time since 2013), that means that she's made trips between King St. Nest Site and Downsview several times. So yeah it does look like she's exploring all her options. On a side note while at Downsview on Jan 3, she was harassing quite a number of Red-tailed Hawks. This is a park known for its RTH population, even in winter. This is a short video I shot of her doing this but the sound is terrible due to strong wind buffeting so turn down your speakers before clicking on the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tx1Xsv1zMUQ

Thanks for all the kind comments. I'll keep you updated if I see her again. I haven't been able to get out much this week due to being stuck at work and daylight hours still being short. I'll probably swing by Downsview this weekend and see what's going on.

http://youtu.be/QxWmTqZFvOgPublished on Jan 12, 2016 We got this great video from Falcon Cam viewer Eric Chandler which shows the pair vocalizing to each other on the side of a building near 101 Hudson St. Peregrine falcons mate for life. In early spring the male performs aerial displays and he also provides the female with gifts to show his commitment to her - in the form of food. To help strengthen their relationship (pair bond) the male and female perform what is referred to as a "bowing" when they vocalize with a “ee-chupping†call which is seen in this short video.

They seem to be starting early this year. Same is true with the red-tailed hawks and eagles. Ben better get up there soon (before first of February) to fix the pinhole camera!!

Thank you, Donna and Coriena! Love the video, especially the long-legged power walk by the female. I saw the female at the nest twice this morning:

Yes, the female is Juliette who arrived last year and had two or three suitors, but no takers. Chicks there for sure this year. They have been around the building all year long apparently.
