Update of female
The female was studied.
It did not die from poisoning or infection, but probably from heart and circulatory failure. This death is not uncommon in birds.
Oh gee, this is so sad! Thank you Annette.

It is sad, but I am very relieved it was not from poisoning.

I'm also glad that it was not from poison but her passing was so sad. Glad her little ones are being cared for.

I'm very thankful it was not from poison that this poor mama passed to the other side.

A final update about the three young falcons:
Stiftung PanEco
They are not longer at our Bird Sanctuary. They are in freedom and none of them came back. That is a good sign, so they are able to live for their own.

Thanks for the news, Annette! I'm happy that they did OK after losing their mother.

After being on his own for a long time, Antonio may have a possible new mate. Recently an unbanded juvie started showing up at the nest box, and she is now spending a lot of time there. She and Antonio have been seen at the nest together, and there are reports that he has brought her food.
She has been unofficially named Josefina. She really seems to like this nest, and I hope she will stay. She is a beauty.
Here she is at the nest:

Another tragic event at the Zurich nest. The beautiful juvie, Josefina, who had bonded with Antonio and had become his new mate, has been found dead. It is so sad to lose her so young, not quite a year old. Poor little one; she must have been stuck in the fence for some time.
I translated this from the site:
The young female falcon had an accident
It is with great regret that we have to inform you that on Friday, February 22, 2013, the young female peregrine from the Josefstrasse power plant nest became entangled in a snow fence while she was hunting. Firefighters and game wardens brought the bird down from there, but sadly, she was already dead.
We had cherished the hope that we might have chicks at this nest again in 2013, but these hopes have fallen to a low level. Whether a new female will once again find her way here remains doubtful.

Is this an uncommon place for migrants? Why doubtful? How horrific for this girl.
