Doesn't this look like the picture of the unidentified bird MAK took while at KO a week or two ago?
A friend of mine - looking at the picture- thought it might be a Northern Goshawk.  I don't think they are very common around here, but looking at this website that Donna posted reminds me of MAK's picture.
