Anyone have wasp advice?

We have a very active wasps' nest in the shed - I do not go in there... I send Rod. Stood on a wasps' nest as a child and am therefore a tad wary of these critters.

So here's the thing: We do NOT want to just kill them - esp if they are useful as pollinators, predators etc. But we would like to get them out of the shed. Not sure of the species, but they make those amazing "paper" nests, all spun around and symmetrical.

Does anyone have sound, practical information and advice for us?

Depends on the size of it! Use protective clothing and do this after dark, as they are dormant. Get a jar bigger than the nest and gently place the opening over the nest. The nest and wasps should all be in the jar at this point. Use a scraper to unhook the nest and cover. Then do what you want with the nest! The woods is a good release point. Found this video.

Paper Wasps and Honeybees are not at all the same animal 
The advice about waiting 'til they are all inside is a good idea.  Be prepared to get inside a secure structure immediately if you mess with them.

Thanks to Kris G and Carol/WV and Donna re the wasps.

We realise we have different creatures here which are not honeybees - or not bees at all! But since I have read that they can be useful as pollinators - but more especially as predators of other harmful insects - we don't want to cover the place in bug spray and destroy them... and who knows what else in the process.

So, as suggested, we will wait til they are dormant... check with a local apiarist... and be prepared to move to a secure structure once we act!

SOunds  like a bad experience with wasps as a child, but do you have pictures of the "paper"nest?   Sounds like some good pictures?
