How this person got the pix is beyond me, as these fellows seldom stay put and go by like a flash of blue lightning. I love them! You hear this little "whirrrr" sound coming along and the next thing, it has shot past you. And maybe this is why I love the Belted Kingfisher so much - always try to find one when I am home.

I once banded one of these darlings myself - Supervised, of course. What a moment.

Isn't it amazing how they flip the fish around so it goes down head-first?
