Nature Rules!

hello Thanks for all the support to my falcon family! I have been cleared for going home this afternoon some time. My newest knee is bending at 76 degrees and straightening to within a couple degrees of perfect. I'm still having some bleeding from where one of the staples came loose and I'm a bit anemic like last time but no other complications so far.  Grin

Good news, MAK! I know from before that you work hard on your exercises and, with in-house PT, you should do well. Hopefully the crutches will be easier on you than the walker was.

Actually I will be using the walker in the house again. The crutches are easier than the cane on my weak arms(from nerve damage in my neck) for doing stairs. Using the cane I was a bit shaky and unstable. This way I can shift my weight to my armpits with crutches for going in and out of the house.  Grin

Yum!  Anemic to me means that you can eat liver and onions.  Spinich on the side.  Eat a rare burger, if you won't eat the liver.

Update on MAK via Joyce:

"Between the time her brother left and I arrived, she had an episode of heart racing and dizziness. She was up at the time. Since then she had to lay down, ate and is in her recliner. MAK'S BP is low and heart rate is up. 2nd reading is slightly better. Staying for a while to keep her company and check her vitals. She's in some pain and very tired."

On ph with her now, she sounds good and Joyce is still with her. 9:20 pm  114/57 right now....oh boy!!

Earlier her BP was 98/47  Shocked

Yikes!  That is low BP!  BP is often a moving target after surgery and what MAK has been through, and MAK is strong and will get over this, too.  Heal, my friend.

FOR THE REST OF US....
GET YOUR BP CHECKED!  So important.....

I told MAK last night, when I call and you don't answer, I'll post a 911 on the forum!! Well I called her this am and no answer!!! I panicked a bit then she texted me she will call me in a few! PHEW!! This girl has so many alarms set, like 6 of them. One for her pain pill, another for her injection that she gives herself, no wonder she can't sleep, all them alarms going off at different times. She was up at six, (Joyce tucked her in at 11pm), then left. Thank you Joyce for taking care of MAK last night. She did her exercises at 6, then fell back to sleep for a while, got up, washed her hair, (now that was a feat)!! Way to go MAK, ate some breakfast, went to her recliner, fell asleep for a while. Brian called her, then me. Now she waits for the nurse to come check her. Not easy when your on your own but ya know what....she's TOUGH!!! Her friend Tesa may come over today and help out with lunch and stuff, good!! Other than that, if I forgot anything, she will correct me and be on at some point! I'm sure her pain is awful and she is weak, she will bounce back soon!! GO MAK!!!

Thanks for the update Donna.  Sounds like good sleep is the most elusive for her, so Donna Central is a good option.

Wow am I exhausted! I was a week stronger the last go around before I came home. The home nurse was here for 2 and a half hours today wearing me out so I slept the rest of the afternoon away. This is the first time I've even been on the puter since I got home yesterday. Sleeping a lot!!! My blood pressure was 113/61 and pulse 89 when she checked it so that is improving. I have a blister on the side of my knee that I have to keep an eye on and the sight where the staple pulled away is still draining so I have to change my dressing twice a day and keep an eye on that to make sure it doesn't become infected. My incision is swollen today probably from the salt in the chinese food Joycie brought for dinner last nite so I gotta be more mindful of my sodium intake. The nurse thinks I'm moving around pretty good at this point. Soooo if there are any new things to report I'll give you an update. Thanks to all for your support, it means the world to me!  Grin

WOW!  Sure sounds like it has been rough on MAK this time around too.  Get stronger every day girl and so glad you have friends there to check up on you and help out.  Can't imagine going through this with no one there all the time to do for you.  You ARE A STRONG LADY!!  I agree  clap  bow to those stepping in to help out!  Paying forward for sure!

Hope you got some good sleep last night and feel much better today!  Keep that positive "tude" and you will get through this!   :guitar:  flowers

MAK, you sure are making the most of the winter!  Come spring, you'll be running on all cylinders again, ready to track down those wandering birdies!

hello This morning the home physical therapist came to evaluate me. She is concerned about how swollen and hard my thigh is as this will prevent full range of motion. It certainly is as when I got measured in the hospital I could bend it to 75 degrees and this morning only 65!  Sad So my goal is to take it easy, keep it iced and well elevated so we can get that swelling down. She has recommended PT 5 times a week until this clears up. I had a restless sleep last nite having a hard time getting comfy. Still bleeding from the incision site where the staple worked it's way loose. This is slowing my recovery down even more as my surgeon said it was going to be a longer recovery this time around because of the extensive work he had to do. Don't worry I am a very patient person and I do as the medical people tell me to do so I will NOT overdo it. I must thank my falcon friends that have come to visit me in the hospital and since I came home including Joyce,CarolP,KathyO,Jeanne and SusanC. And those who have kept tabs on me either by phone,fb and this forum. You know who you are! There's too many to list and I don't want to forget anyone so I won't. I love and appreciate ALL of you!  heart Grin
