One of the best places to watch for them, however, is right along the lakeshore, especially the piers at Charlotte, the jetties at Irondequoit Bay outlet, and the open expanse of Braddock Bay, especially when it gets ice. Snowy Owls are active by day as well as by night; they will prey not only on rodents but coots, gulls and other waterfowl that congregate at these locations.
SWEET!!

Awesome! Joyce,Brian and I checked Charlotte and Seabreeze on Saturday with no luck. Maybe this weekend we'll get lucky! I would love to be able to post pics of a Snowy on this forum especially for my buddies Janet and Donna!

In the area I live in,about 45min north of Toronto, its abit early yet for Snowy Owls. We do live only 10min from a great spot to see them all winter though,so I look forward to many good sightings.

Its been unseasonably warm here so far,so I dont expect much for awhile. Someone reliable and thorough posted on Ont Birds from several of the popular over winter spots near us and there were no sightings yesterday. I understand the local Screech Owl is back at my favorite park, and overwinter spots for Sawhets and Long-eared Owls are already productive.

(Is it any wonder Snowy Owl incursions are so eagerly anticipated? This one was on the Summerville Pier on Thanksgiving Day)

Figured I'd put all the Snowy stuff here.
Here's a map of all the latest sightings of Snowy's, if reported.
