“I’ll need some time off in November to go to Assateague to band owls.â€

That remains one of the best excuses for some time off I’ve ever heard, and of course it was legitimate. Who would be creative enough to make up that? My co-worker at the time was Tammy Otto, a graduate student in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University. She spent six years banding Northern Saw-Whet Owls at Assateague Island National Seashore as a volunteer with Project Owlnet.

Believe it or not, I have never seen any owl, but I've heard the Great Horned a number of times.

They are such sweet little things!
 Ive been fortunate to see 9 species of owl in Ontario Canada,most around Toronto. Also saw 6 other species when in South Africa. Only missing Barn Owl for Ontario. They are all but extinct here,only one nesting pair known of..and they didnt produce last season.
