Hedgehog

Yesterday I saw a Hedgehog in my garden, it's a young one.
Later that day I talked with someone who has a garden next to me and he told that a few days ago in an other garden, 2 hedgehogs (probably mother and child) were fallen in a drain and drowned. They had taken away the drain cover for some work and didn't put it back.
I'm so upset, it's so stupid !!!
I think the hedgehog in my garden is an other child from that mother, I feel so sorry for him. I build a kind of shelter for him with lots of fallen leaves
and I put some food outside, but I didn't see him again. I hope that I will see him tomorrow.
greetings Aafke

Aafke, I feel so bad for the other 2
. Maybe you can help "Sonic" the hedgehog make it through the tough Winter. I'm sure he wonders where his mom and sibling are. Very cute pics, I may add.

Hi Aafke,
that is very sad. Both hedgehogs died.
Poor animals.

I haven't seen him again, but the food is gone every time. It's possible that an other animal eat the food, maybe a cat?
Today I put some food in the shelter that I made for the hedgehog, the opening is too small for cats, so I'm curious if the food will be gone tomorrow.

I'm so glad you posted these adorable pictures! I've never even seen a hedgehog up close, let alone a tiny rolled-up baby with the cutest face imaginable.

Ok, this wins the cuteness award - even my husband wants one! The two of us made cooing noises over the little nose and "peets".
